Lead the development of a National Lottery Heritage Fund project that will help deliver landscape-scale nature recovery across the internationally important Chichester Harbour National Landscape.

Location: Chichester Harbour Conservancy, Itchenor, West Sussex (some flexible home working may be possible)

Fixed Term: 18 months (with potential extension subject to future funding). Full Time: 37 hours per week

Chichester Harbour Conservancy is seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead an exciting National Lottery Heritage Fund supported project that will help create the foundations for large-scale nature recovery across the Chichester Harbour National Landscape.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing ambitious habitat restoration and landscape-scale conservation initiatives within one of the UK's most important coastal environments.

The Chichester Harbour Landscape Connections Project has been made possible thanks to funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

About the Role

Reporting to the Nature Recovery Partnership Manager, you will be responsible for delivering the components of the Heritage Fund project in accordance with the funding bid and approved expenditure. This will include commissioning Feasibility Studies/Technical Reports, developing an Access, Inclusion and Participation plan to increase community connectivity with our nature recovery work and seeking all required permissions, licences and consents in support of project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

Supporting the development of a future capital funding bid and associated documentation.

Maintaining effective working relationships with landowners, conservation partners, local authorities, community organisations, volunteers and government agencies.

Representing the project through presentations, partnership meetings and stakeholder engagement activities.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong track record in conservation project delivery and partnership working who can bring together people, evidence and opportunities to develop ambitious environmental projects.

You will have:

  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in an environmental or social science discipline.
  • At least three years’ experience working within the conservation sector and experience of managing capital works projects.
  • Experience commissioning and managing consultants and contractors.
  • Knowledge of statutory permissions and consents associated with environmental projects.
  • Experience managing project budgets and grant-funded programmes.
  • Knowledge of effective strategies to encourage inclusion, access and participation.
